I feel for you both. I hope all goes well back home, (well, as well as it can be anyway). I truly hope to see you both back on Milly when the time is right. All the best ♥️. I came across your channel this weekend as I begin my research on Kracken boats. What a special surpice to find my new favorite sailing channel. You are both lovely people . Who make very entertaining videos. Adam I wish you an amazing, deep journey in experiencing new depths of love as you spend time with your father during his time of transforming back into his eternal self. If you and your father still have time, and your not to embarrassed, look into each others eyes, breathing. It is in this place that you can both familiarize with eternity of the other... become aware of a feeling in your heart that is vast. Better yet do it all as a family. Blessings

You also inspired us to become UA-camrs, we’ve been doing it every week for four years 60,000 subscribers. That is a journey on its own, we we understand what leaving that behind means. Hope to see you back at it someday, best wishes to you and your family. Larry

So far, my favorite comment is about keels. In a racing boat, you want a skinny keel. You want to spin around the mark. I am new to offshore sailing. I still race on a FT-10. In the last 18 months, I began offshore and have about 12,000 NM in that time. On a Pacific crossing, I believe we were on the same tack for more than 3 weeks. Spinning around a mark was not on our minds. Different boats for different purposes. Understand that everything is a compromise driven by the goals of the design. Thus we have Bugatti Chiron vs an F-350 dually. Both are amazing vehicles built for different purposes. I might be able to afford the dually. One compromises strength, ruggedness, and towing for speed, handling and acceleration. I won't mention power for either because power can be an asset to both purposes. But that power is delivered in completely different ways. It's the same with boats. The Kraken delivers very good performance in a competent ocean cruiser. The Oyster 485's I've been on delivered the same only 30 years out of date and much less of both criteria. I also know that optimizing the compromise is expensive and beyond my capabilities.

Very good solution. In Brazil we call it "gambiarra" when we do something wrong to make it right. Look carefully at the installation manual and you will see that the position is not correct. For the very high price of this reel, don't you think it's worth investing a little and placing it in the correct position above the deck? I don't know how much weight he uses as an anchor, but be careful with the fragility of what he did in the face of great efforts from the anchor. That everything right! A big hug and good winds!!!

I am suffering just seeing you walk around in flip-flops. I used to work in the outdoor business and found my favorite shoes of all time, real sandals with heavy toe protection. The brand we had was keen and I just love those hiking sandals. I'm sure there are other brands but that type of sandals are really great. I think I worn out 4 pairs by now. I also want to say that you guys are doing an incredible work filming and editing this! I cant stop watching, and I have seen many, many sailing channels before and yours is the best!

This is one of the best sailing discussion videos ever, anywhere. I wanted to learn a bit more about my cutter rigged Hunter. (I just lashed the cutter stay to a shroud. (The first owner had it installed for a storm sail). I have to sell my boat, but now I'd just like to buy a stay sail and head over the horizon. Reefing. As a rookie I was out on a 28' charter in 15 knot winds with gusts. I was annoyed by the leaning, so I thought I'd practice taking a reef. The boat went back to vertical and I was going the same speed. (This can't be the case, but it wasn't much of a change.) I'd learned the ideas of 'if you think about it, take a reef,' and 'always reef at dusk' Both of which are predicated on safety, but also taking a reef doesn't slow you down so much that the negatives outweigh the comfort and safety. (Since then I've gained a lot of experience reefing in the middle of the night on other peoples' boats, even tying a parted third reef in 33 knot winds at the end of the boom on top of the dodger. At the time I thought, 'would make a great video, but wasn't at all dangerous.' Clipped in...) My boat has in mast furling so I have infinite reefing points. I did think I should make some markings on the out haul sheet (at the clutch) so I have a general idea of three reefing points.

However, all of us, regardless of our beliefs, are equally wishing you well, hoping that life isn't too traumatic for you just now, and that you can both get back to what you love most, whatever that may be.
